Usually I don't post about trailers but this was the highest grossing movie of 2013 and a cultural phenomenon... so yeah.
This is exactly what a teaser is supposed to do, especially for one of the most successful movies of all time. There’s no dialogue, just action. We see our heroes going up against obstacles and we hear the chant that opened the first film but this time it is accompanied by swelling music. Also, we get a glimpse at an autumnal landscape in the world of Arendelle.
I saw Frozen about a week after it came out. I remember seeing concept art earlier in the year when I was at the Hollywood Studios park in Disney World. Also my stepmom is a huge Idina Menzel and Wicked fan so she was immediately hooked. Surprisingly, the theater wasn’t very full. I liked the movie, didn’t love it, but about halfway through “Let it Go”, I thought holy s**t, this thing is gonna explode. There were just too many catchy songs for the film not to be a hit. And then the film had incredible legs at the box office on it’s way to $1.276 billion at the box office (more than Iron Man 3 which came out in the same year).
My one minor annoyance with that film is that chant at the beginning because they tried to put an African chant at the beginning of the film to replicate the beginning of The Lion King even though Arendelle is based on Scandinavia.
