These moments provide a logical payoff to something that was set up earlier in the film or in a previous film. When plot points are consistently and gratifyingly paid off, the film gains a rhythm and harmony that enhances the viewing experience and probably its rewatchability factor. By: Alex Thomas Along with big budget comic book/superhero movies, there is another major trend in Hollywood today: low budget horror/thriller films. Do they make as much money as superhero movies? No. Are they as successful as superhero movies? In a way, yes. If you’re calculating profitability by return on investment (ROI), these horror/thriller films trounce the superhero flicks. |
